1. Market Background
With the increasing requirements for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in the Southern European construction industry, the demand for high-efficiency flexible HVAC ducting in the Portuguese market is growing steadily. In duct manufacturing, jacketing materials must provide structural sealing while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance and aesthetic appeal to meet modern environmental and architectural codes.
2. Client & Application Scenario
- Client Background: A leading manufacturer in Lisbon, Portugal, specializing in the production of flexible ventilation ducts.
- Application Scenario: This batch is specifically used for the production of composite flexible ducts for residential and commercial HVAC systems.
- Technical Challenge: The client's previous foil supplies often suffered from breakage during high-speed winding or paint peeling at bends, leading to high rejection rates. They required a material that combines high tensile strength with superior coating adhesion.
3. Our Solution
For the precision duct-forming process, we supplied 20 tons of White Coated Aluminum Foil Strips. We selected the 8011 alloy for its superior deep-drawing properties and utilized an automated precision slitting process to ensure burr-free edges, perfectly matching the client's production line.
Key Technical Parameters:
- Grade & Temper: 8011-O. The O temper (fully soft) offers excellent flexibility, ensuring the air duct does not crack when bent at complex angles.
- Specifications: 0.1mm (thickness) * 60mm (width). The thickness tolerance is strictly controlled within ±0.005mm.
- Coating Quality: The white polyester pre-coating features strong adhesion, with no cracking or peeling in tensile tests, and excellent resistance to heat and humidity.
- Edge Quality: Burr-free edges prevent damage to the inner polyester film during air duct winding and forming, significantly improving the yield rate.
4. Feedback & Summary
- Client Feedback: After putting the 21 tons of material into production, the client expressed high satisfaction, noting that the forming stability far exceeded expectations, reducing machine downtime by approximately 15%. Due to the high consistency of quality, the client officially committed to a long-term strategic partnership.
- Delivery Performance: Given European clients' sensitivity to lead times, we ensured the batch reached the Port of Lisbon strictly as scheduled through systematic production planning, securing the client's upcoming quarterly delivery.
5. Conclusion
This collaboration successfully demonstrates our leadership in precision aluminum foil processing. By providing 8011-O high-flexibility substrates and tight tolerance control, we solved the processing pain points for our Portuguese client while enhancing their product competitiveness in the European HVAC market.
