6-micron (0.006mm) aluminum foil is classified as a "double-zero foil". Common alloys are 1235 (suitable for food contact) and 8011 (suitable for industrial lamination).
Despite its thinness, a 6-micron aluminum layer blocks over 99% of oxygen, light, and moisture, forming an effective protective barrier. The finished product typically has one bright side and one matte side to meet lamination or printing requirements.
